Toys ‘n’ Tucker Christmas appeal

25 November 2014

2014-12-05 057 (compressed) Member for Bennelong John Alexander is urging everyone in Bennelong – businesses, schools and churches to help share the joy with those struggling to make ends meet this Christmas.

Each Christmas Schools and Churches across Bennelong take part in the Anglicare Toys ‘n’ Tucker appeal, hoping many families will donate much needed food and toys to be packed into hampers for low income families and individuals who will be facing an otherwise bleak and desperate holiday season.

Member for Bennelong John Alexander has offered his support to the appeal by purchasing food and toys and delivering to Epping North Public School. “In a wealthy area like Bennelong, we still have pockets of desperate need,” said Mr. Alexander. “The food collected through Toys ‘n’ Tucker enables Anglicare to assist these people, not only during the Christmas period, but also into the New Year. It is a practical way people can help someone in need during this time and encourage them to keep going.”

Last year Anglicare van drivers and volunteers collected more than 50,000 food items for households and 10,000 toys for children who would have gone without during Christmas.
