John Alexander’s Bennelong 100km Walk for MND has had a stellar first week, with thousands of dollars raised and dozens of kilometres walked.
JA started the walk on Saturday 24th October at his Epping office, and has already walked though North Epping, Marsfield, Macquarie Park, Denistone East, North Ryde, East Ryde, Top Ryde and Gladesville. The remainder of Bennelong will be walked in the weeks to come.
In the first week alone, he has already visited 12 shopping villages, 12 schools and 4 aged care homes. He’s spoken to campaigners at Epping Pool, checked out the venue for the upcoming Bennelong Cup Table Tennis Tournament, and collected donations from the big pharmaceutical companies of Macquarie Park. But most importantly, he’s spoken to hundreds of local residents about their concerns, opinions, and Motor Neurone Disease.
John said: “It has been amazing week of walking and talking to people across Bennelong. The generosity of people has been absolutely astounding. Motor Neurone Disease is a truly shocking illness, and people have opened their hearts and wallets to this excellent cause.”
“It’s still early days on this walk though, so if I haven’t been through your neighbourhood yet, make sure you keep an eye out for me walking by. I’m usually preceded by a leaflet, and it’s always great to have company on my walk, so please do come out for a walk and a chat.”
