JA presents this round of Local Sporting Champions with their certificates and cheques.

On Thursday 8th October,  John Alexander MP, Member for Bennelong recognized and celebrated the efforts of our up and coming local sportspeople by awarding 10 Local Sporting Campion Grants.

Mr. Alexander will award these grants to young people from across the region who have shown exceptional promise and dedication to their sport. Each Bennelong Local Sporting Champion recipient will receive a $500 boost to help cover the costs of their competition endeavors.

Mr. Alexander encourages other young sports achievers, including local sports teams, to apply for funding under the next round of grants. “Being an athlete is a big commitment – not only for the sportsman, but for the entire family,” said Mr. Alexander. “It can also be a big financial burden on families. The Bennelong Local Sporting Champions Grants program is designed to offer some assistance, to help young people pursue their dreams.”

If you are aged between 12 and 18 and are competing, officiating or coaching at a State, National or International sporting event, you may be eligible for a Bennelong Local Sporting Champion Grant.
