Phil Kearns provided the star power; JA the net, paddles and ball; West Ryde’s Formula Chemicals the location, and neighbour Mitronics some competition; for a brilliant popup Pickleball sports session on Friday to promote active recreation as a preventative health measure.
Member for Bennelong John Alexander OAM MP said: “There are so many benefits to active recreation: social, physical and psychological. I recommend more people seek out active recreation as a preventative measure against some of the chronic health issues we face as a community.
“Pickleball is a brilliant sport that helps achieve these goals, it’s a combination of tennis, badminton and table tennis. It can be played by all ages and anywhere, including at businesses such as the great local business Formula Chemicals.
Formula Chemicals founder Leigh Smart said: “It was a pleasure to host this initiative and test the benefits of this initiative of active recreation among our employees. Everyone enjoyed themselves, especially when Phil Kearns appeared! Congratulations to Team JA for winning the competition, I think we should have had a handicap system though!”
Formula Chemicals CFO Kimberley Smart said: “Pickleball was so easy to setup in our hard stand area. So easy I have asked it to be included at my child’s school market day event at Melrose Park Public School in late October.”
Picklball Sydney’s Jacqui Robinson was on hand to be the umpire and keep everything in hand.
