John Alexander MP has applauded the way everyone came together and stayed hydrated during record heat at the Lunar New Year’s Grand Celebration Day at Eastwood last Saturday.
Mr Alexander said: “I spoke with the St John Ambulance staff and they reported to me that despite the mercury tipping 42 degrees in the shade, they had not been busy. They said: “People are smart, they know what they need to do to stay safe.”
“This was inspiring to hear on two fronts, firstly we’re blessed to have the Saint John Ambulance team serving our community, as well as all the other emergency services we are lucky to have on call, and secondly to hear our community taking care of each other and being safe.
“Hugh Lee and his organising committee, the performers, guests and members of the community should all be proud of themselves and be congratulated on putting forward and supporting a magnificent day of celebrations despite the difficult heat experienced,” Mr Alexander added.
