I joined a large diverse group of local volunteers last Sunday to participate in Clean Up Australia Day, including State Ryde Member of Parliament Victor Dominello, and Ryde City Councillors Jordan lane and Trenton Brown.
We love our local area, especially the waterways of the Parramatta and Lane Cove Rivers; it’s important we come together to make our environment the best it can be.
I can report there were a lot of plastics, including single use plastics, so further policy implementation on reducing these items will benefit the environment.
But a collateral benefit to the litter, was a great group of local people of all ages coming together for a good cause, enjoying each other’s company and camaraderie.
That’s what makes our area so special, a brilliant sense of community and volunteerism that can be experienced everywhere.
